Juventus coach recieves a 10 month football ban for match fixing

Juventus coach Antonio Conte has been banned for 10 months for his role in the match-fixing scandal that has enveloped Italian football.
Conte, who led Juventus to the Serie A title last season, is accused of failing to report match-fixing in two games in the 2010-11 season when he was coach of Siena, then in Serie B.
An Italian sport tribunal meanwhile cleared Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci and attacker Simone Pepe of involvement in the scandal.
Conte has two opportunities to appeal against the verdict.
Prosecutors said an international gambling ring paid players to throw matches deliberately in a sports betting scandal that echoes intrigues that soured the image of Italian football in the 1980s.
A Juventus statement read: “Juventus Football Club warmly welcomes the acquittal of its players Leonardo Bonucci and Simone Pepe and reiterates its full support for (coach) Antonio Conte and Angelo Alessio in the hope that the next degree of judgment can finally let their innocence to emerge fully.
“Regarding the position of Conte’s legal team – composed of professionals appointed by the individuals concerned – in full harmony with the club, is already working to prepare the grounds for appeal, with the conviction that the reasons for affirming the falsehood of the alleged facts is unchanged.
“Antonio Conte and Angelo Alessio will be assisted by attorneys Antonio De Rensis and Luigi Chiappero, to which is added the lawyer. Giulia Bongiorno.”
