Andy Carroll – Liverpool
Carroll has been at the centre of many transfer moves across Europe and Liverpool recently turned down a loan bid from the striker’s former club Newcastle United.
Though Liverpool is expected to only accept a bid in the range of £20m fee, West Ham’s new offer may be considered as well worth for Carroll who has just 11 goals in 18 months stay at Anfeild.
Club owner David Sullivan’s son Jack tweeted how his father was working hard on the biggest signing of the club ever: “Dad is working on the biggest signing in the history of the club. TWICE as big as anything as the club have done before.”
23-year-old Andy Carroll joined Liverpool in January 2011 under Kenny Dalglish for a record £35m deal but his performance failed to match anticipations of fans and management.
He did however impress at the tail-end of the 2011/12 season, scoring the winner against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final and slamming in a strike past Chelsea in the final.
Carroll also scored in his first start at the European Championship in England’s 3-2 win over Sweden.
